Our democracy is in danger.
We’ve moved to a place where anger and rancor have crowded out reasonable thought and rational debate. Over the course of our history, when our political discourse has been anchored in reason, logic and factual data, we have been able to make extraordinary progress towards the vision laid out by our founders in the Declaration of Independence, our credo.
However, when we have allowed acrimony to crowd out reason, the results have often been quite violent.
History teaches us that there is a secret formula if only we would apply it.
In order to move forward as a nation, we must recognize that this secret sauce of respectful reasoned debate based on data holds the keys to progress and our collective triumph as a nation.
The #FightUnreasonWithReason campaign’s goal is to save our democracy through pledging to engage, learn, act and encouraging others to do the same through campus outreach, events, and social media exposure.
